N5 Realignment- Scramoge to Cloonmore
Realignment of 8km of the N5 National Primary Road between Scramoge and Cloonmore, County Roscommon. Principal elements included:
- 8.3km of mainline construction
- 2 river bridges
- 1 rail bridge
- 500 m of culverts
- 600,000 m3 of earthworks including excavation of 350,000 m3 of peat
- Installation of 120,000 m of vertical drainage
- Construction of 40,000 m2 of a basal geo-cellular mattress with extensive soil instrumentation
- Construction of 500 m long pile supported embankment consisting of 250 mm and 350 mm square precast concrete piles to a maximum depth of 13 m.
